The FortiGate 6001F is part of Fortinet's 6000F Series, built for large enterprises and service providers that need to embed security throughout the datacentre and across a hybrid IT architecture, protecting every edge at scale.
It runs Fortinet's AI/ML-based FortiGuard Services on an integrated Security Fabric platform, giving coordinated, automated threat protection across the environment. Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) enforcement is built into the NGFW itself, controlling and verifying application access without a separate access layer.
The 6001F ships with 10 FPC (Fabric Processor Card) blades fitted, of which 3 are enabled by an embedded licence by default. Throughput scales by unlocking additional FPC blades with a perpetual or subscription upgrade licence, up to the chassis' full capacity, without a hardware swap.

How does FPC licensing work on the 6001F?
The chassis ships with 10 FPC blades installed, but only 3 are enabled out of the box under the embedded default licence. Additional FPC capacity is unlocked with the LIC-FG6KF-FPC perpetual upgrade licence or the FC1-10-6KF01-744 subscription licence, purchased per FPC, up to a maximum of 7 enabled FPCs on this SKU. Throughput scales with each FPC enabled.
Is the 6001F right for my deployment?
The 6001F is a 3RU rack-mount chassis weighing up to 79.59 lbs (36.1 kg), supporting up to 200,000 firewall policies, 500 virtual domains and 20,000 FortiTokens. High availability is supported in Active-Active (FGSP), Active-Passive or clustering configurations.
