The Fortinet FortiSwitch 124G is part of the FortiSwitch Access family, built for enterprise branch offices and small-to-mid sized business networks that need secure, easy-to-manage Ethernet switching without adding operational overhead. It's a 1 RU rack-mount access switch without PoE, aimed at wiring closets where powering endpoints from the switch isn't needed.
It connects to a FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall over FortiLink, Fortinet's proprietary switch-management protocol. FortiLink turns the switch into a logical extension of the FortiGate, so wired and wireless security policy, VLANs and access-layer functions are all managed from the same FortiGate console.
With FortiLink enabled, the FortiGate can also profile and onboard connecting devices with basic Network Access Control (NAC): automatic segmentation and security policy per device type, quarantine for compromised endpoints, and virtual patching against known threats — giving the switch a built-in foundation for zero-trust network access (ZTNA) at the edge.

Does the 124G provide Power over Ethernet?
No. The 124G is a non-PoE access switch — if you need to power access points, IP phones or cameras from the switch, the PoE-equipped 124G-FPOE variant covers the same 24-port, 6x 10G-uplink layout with an 780W PoE budget.
