It shares the 624F's 24x 1GE/2.5GE/5GE RJ45 ports plus 4x 10GE/25GE SFP+/SFP28 uplinks in a 1 RU rack-mount chassis, and adds 24 PoE ports (802.3af/at/bt type 4) with a 1440W power budget for powering access points, phones and cameras directly from the switch.
The 624F-FPOE is designed to be managed through FortiLink, Fortinet's proprietary protocol that links a FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall to FortiSwitch hardware. FortiLink turns the switch into a logical extension of the FortiGate, so network security and access-layer switching functions, including PoE control, are handled from a single interface with centralized VLAN configuration and software upgrades across every managed switch.
Through FortiLink, the 624F-FPOE also gains basic Network Access Control (NAC) capability — profiling and securely onboarding devices as they connect, with automated segmentation and microsegmentation of IoT devices, quarantine for compromised endpoints, and virtual patching against emerging threats.
