The Netgear GS110TP is a ProSAFE smart switch that packs a lot of network into a small footprint: eight Gigabit PoE ports for endpoints, two SFP slots for fibre uplinks, and full smart management for VLANs, QoS and monitoring. It is the classic edge switch for a satellite office, retail unit or annexe — power the local phones, cameras and access points, then uplink over fibre back to the main cabinet.

The smart management layer means the phones can sit on a voice VLAN and the CCTV on its own segment, all configured from a web browser. Pair it with a PoE access point such as the TP-Link EAP650, and step up to the GS728TP or GS752TP where more ports are needed.

Why choose a smart switch over an unmanaged PoE switch?

Management. The GS110TP lets you separate traffic with VLANs, prioritise voice with QoS and see what each port is doing — essential once phones or CCTV share the LAN with data. If you will never need that control, an unmanaged model such as the GS108LP costs less.

What do the SFP slots do?

They accept fibre transceiver modules for uplinks — typically connecting this switch back to a central cabinet or another building where a copper run is impractical.

Does it power PoE devices on all eight copper ports?
