Fortinet FortiGate 201G

The Fortinet FortiGate 201G is a 1RU rack-mount next-generation firewall (NGFW) for mid-range enterprise networks. It combines AI/ML-based threat protection with visibility into applications, users and devices, delivering 9 Gbps IPS throughput, 7 Gbps NGFW throughput and 6 Gbps full threat protection throughput.

It runs the same AI/ML-powered FortiGuard security services and integrated Security Fabric platform as the rest of the G-series, combining edge protection, network segmentation and secure SD-WAN in a single appliance to reduce complexity across hybrid IT networks.

FortiOS runs the same policy and management framework whether deployed as a physical appliance, virtual instance, container or cloud service, so the 201G can be managed consistently alongside the rest of a Fortinet Security Fabric estate. Hardware acceleration is provided by NP7Lite and CP10 processors.

No. This FG-201G listing is hardware only. FortiGuard IPS, application control, web filtering and the other protection services are quoted and added separately by term — 1, 3 or 5 years — to match the support level you need; call or email us with the term and services required.

FortiGate 200G or 201G?

The 201G has 12× GE RJ45 ports against the 200G's 10×; the 8× 5GE RJ45 ports, 4× GE SFP slots and 8× 10GE SFP+ slots are the same on both. Dimensions and headline IPS/NGFW/threat protection throughput also match, with the 201G drawing marginally more power (145 W / 176 W against 145 W / 175 W).

Is the 201G right for a mid-size branch or campus edge?
