Fortinet FortiGate 2601F

The FortiGate 2601F is Fortinet's 2600F-series next-generation firewall with onboard storage added, delivering high-speed networking and scalable performance for enterprises and service providers. It manages IPS, SSL inspection and threat protection in one platform, and can be deployed at the enterprise edge, the hybrid and hyperscale data-centre core, and across internal network segments.

Hardware includes 4 x 100GE/40GE QSFP28 slots, 16 x 25GE/10GE SFP28 slots, 16 x 10GE RJ45 ports, 2 x 10G SFP+ HA slots and 2 x 1G management ports, plus 2TB onboard storage for local logging. It runs on Fortinet's NP7 and CP9 security processing units for hardware-accelerated networking and security, powered by dual AC power supplies.

Rated performance includes 198 Gbps firewall throughput, 55 Gbps VPN throughput, 21 Gbps NGFW throughput and 20 Gbps threat protection throughput. Supported deployment modes include Next Generation Firewall, Segmentation, IPS and Mobile Security.

Hardware-only or a bundle?

Hardware-only is the FG-2601F appliance on its own. The bundle options add FortiCare Premium support with either FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection (UTP) or FortiGuard Enterprise Protection, over a 1, 3 or 5 year term, so licensing and support are pre-agreed with the hardware.

Is there a DC-powered FortiGate 2601F?

Yes — the FG-2601F-DC. It is the same 2601F platform but takes DC power input for telecom and data-centre racks running on a DC power plant, instead of this model's AC mains supply.
