Fortinet FortiGate 3001F

The FortiGate 3000F series NGFW delivers high-speed networking, increased scalability and optimised performance for enterprises and service providers. It manages security risk with best-of-breed IPS, SSL inspection and threat protection, and is designed for deployment at the enterprise edge, the hybrid and hyperscale data-centre core, and across internal network segments.

The FG-3001F is the higher-density model in the 3000F series: 6x 100GE QSFP28 slots, 16x 10GE SFP+/25GE SFP28 slots (14 traffic ports plus 2 HA ports), 18x 10GBase-T ports including 2 management ports, 2 TB of onboard SSD storage and two AC power supplies, all accelerated by Fortinet's SPU NP7 and CP9 processors.

An optional perpetual Hyperscale Firewall License is available for the FG-3000F/FG-3001F series, adding hardware-accelerated CGNAT — hardware session setup, session logging and NAT — via Fortinet's SPU NP7 processor.

Hardware-only or a bundle?

The hardware-only SKU (FG-3001F) is the appliance alone. The bundle SKUs add 1, 3 or 5 years of FortiCare Premium support plus either FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection (UTP) or Enterprise Protection, which most deployments need for ongoing IPS, antivirus and web/URL filtering updates.

3001F vs 3001F-DC — what's different?

The hardware is otherwise the same 3000F-series platform. The FG-3001F takes two AC power supplies; the FG-3001F-DC takes two DC power supplies for telco and data-centre racks running DC power.

How do I size the right model?

Match the interface count and port speeds against your uplink and segmentation plan — 6x 100GE QSFP28 plus 16x 10/25GE and 18x 10GBase-T ports — and add the Hyperscale Firewall License where CGNAT hardware acceleration is required.
