Fortinet FortiWifi 50G-DSL

The Fortinet FortiWiFi 50G-DSL is the DSL-WAN, Wi-Fi-equipped variant of the FortiGate 50G-DSL, replacing the standard GE WAN port with an integrated xDSL modem (VDSL2/ADSL2/ADSL2+) for sites served by copper broadband. It combines a next-generation firewall, integrated SD-WAN and built-in dual-radio Wi-Fi, delivering 5 Gbps firewall throughput, 2.25 Gbps IPS throughput and 1.1 Gbps threat protection throughput.

FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services run natively on the appliance as part of Fortinet’s Security Fabric, drawing on the latest threat intelligence from FortiGuard Labs to defend against zero-day and AI-driven attack techniques. Network and file security draw on more than 18,000 IPS signatures with AI/ML-driven packet and SSL inspection and virtual patching for newly disclosed vulnerabilities, while anti-malware combines antivirus with sandboxing and application control gives real-time visibility of the apps on the network.

The 50G-DSL supports 4.5 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput, up to 200 gateway-to-gateway and 250 client-to-gateway IPsec tunnels, and manages up to 8 FortiSwitches and 16 FortiAPs. Its dual-radio 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax wireless reaches up to 1201 Mbps at 5 GHz and 574 Mbps at 2.4 GHz.

How does the 50G-DSL differ from the standard 50G?

The 50G-DSL replaces the standard GE WAN port with an integrated xDSL modem (VDSL2/ADSL2/ADSL2+) on an RJ11 port, for sites connected over copper broadband rather than a router-terminated Ethernet WAN. It adds SMA antenna ports and dual-radio Wi-Fi as standard on this FortiWiFi model; core firewall performance (throughput, sessions, VPN) matches the standard 50G family.

Is the 50G-DSL the right size?
