Grandstream HT801 Single-Port FXS ATA

The Grandstream HT801 is a single-port analogue telephone adapter — the small box that keeps one analogue device working after the phone line has gone. An ordinary corded phone, a fax machine, a lift emergency phone or an alarm dialler plugs into its FXS port, and the HT801 registers that device to your SIP platform as an extension.

Its usual job is the awkward leftover in an otherwise finished VoIP migration. Every desk is on an IP phone, the ISDN line is cancelled, and there is still one device nobody can replace — a door phone, a paging amplifier, a machine that only speaks analogue. The HT801 handles exactly that, for the cost of a phone lead's worth of budget.

Frequently asked questions

How many analogue devices will it take?

One. If you have two, the HT802 gives you two FXS ports; beyond that, look at the HT812, HT814 or a GXW gateway. We stock the range — tell us the device count.

Will my fax machine actually work?

The HT801 supports T.38 fax relay, which is the correct mechanism, and it works well on a stable connection. Fax over IP is still less forgiving than fax over a copper line — if the fax is business-critical, tell us and we will talk through the options honestly.

Can I use it with a hosted phone system?

Yes. It registers to any standards-based SIP platform, on-site or hosted. Your provider will give you the registration details.

Does it power the analogue phone?

Yes — the FXS port provides line voltage and ring current, so a standard corded phone works as it always did.

Is it powered over Ethernet?

No. The HT801 uses its own small power supply and has a single 10/100 Ethernet port for the network.
