Does the DECT handset need its own base station?

No — the DECT receiver is built into the phone. The cordless handset registers directly to the D895M and works up to 50 metres away, with no separate base to install.

How is the D895M powered?

It supports Power over Ethernet, so a PoE switch port can power the phone over its network cable, and there are dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with an integrated switch for the desktop PC.

How does it differ from the D892M?

The D895M moves to a larger 8-inch touchscreen with 56 on-screen SmartLabel touch keys, whereas the D892M uses a 5-inch display with 10 physical SmartLabel keys. Both include the integrated DECT handset, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and PoE.
