The Fortinet FortiExtender 200F extends a FortiGate's LAN interface over a secured Layer 2 tunnel, bringing Layer2–Layer7 security policy out to branch offices without requiring a full FortiGate at every site.

Integration with FortiGate and the wider Security Fabric means the 200F's extended LAN inherits the same Web, Content and Device security controls as the core network, managed centrally from FortiManager, FortiGate or the FortiExtender Cloud dashboard.

Its five GbE RJ45 ports are individually configurable as WAN or LAN, and the unit runs from an external 12V/2A power adapter rather than requiring PoE, giving flexible deployment options at branch sites.

What is the FortiExtender 200F used for?

It extends a FortiGate's LAN out to a branch office over a secured Layer 2 tunnel, carrying Layer2–Layer7 security policy to the remote site without deploying a full FortiGate there.

Does the 200F have a cellular modem?

No — the 200F is a wired LAN extension unit; it connects back to a FortiGate over the network rather than over cellular. For cellular WAN extension, see the FortiExtender F- and G-series models.

What support and licensing options are available?

FortiCare Premium support (1, 3 or 5 years), FortiExtender-Cloud License and Support for the 100–200 series (1, 3 or 5 years), and a FortiSASE subscription with 2Mbps bandwidth licensing (1, 3 or 5 years) are all available for the 200F.
