The Fortinet FortiGate 80F is a compact, fanless desktop next-generation firewall with secure SD-WAN for branch offices and mid-sized businesses. System-on-a-chip acceleration delivers 10 Gbps of firewall throughput, 1.4 Gbps of IPS and 900 Mbps of full threat protection.

Connectivity steps up from the smaller F-series units: 2 GE RJ45/SFP shared-media WAN pairs plus 6 internal and 2 FortiLink GE RJ45 ports, with dual-power-adapter redundancy optional. It handles 1.5 million concurrent sessions and 45,000 new sessions per second, with IPsec VPN at 6.5 Gbps and up to 2,500 client-to-gateway tunnels.

A dedicated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) generates, stores and authenticates cryptographic keys to harden the appliance itself, and Bluetooth Low Energy is built in. FortiLink ports integrate FortiSwitch hardware under the firewall (up to 16 switches and 96 FortiAPs) and can be reconfigured as regular ports.

Hardware only includes the appliance; FortiGuard security services are subscriptions. The bundles pair the hardware with FortiCare Premium support plus either Unified Threat Protection (UTP) or Enterprise Protection for 1, 3 or 5 years — usually the simpler and cheaper way to buy the first term.
