What SIM and bands does it use?

It takes a SIM for its 5G RedCap modem (3GPP Release 17, SA operation, sub-6 GHz) covering n1–n79 RedCap bands, with 4G LTE fallback across LTE-FDD B1–B70 and LTE-TDD B34–B48. That gives it an out-of-band path that works entirely outside the host network.

What happens if the site's network goes down?

The Comet 5G automatically fails over from Ethernet to Wi-Fi to 5G/4G cellular. Even if the main network fails completely, the cellular path keeps you connected to your systems — your final out-of-band management tool.

Do I need to install software to use it?

No. Access is clientless from any modern web browser on Windows, macOS or Linux, right down to BIOS level. Dedicated apps for laptop, phone and tablet are available if you prefer, and Tailscale and self-hosting are supported.

Can I use it on-site without any internet?

Yes — Nearby Control broadcasts the Comet 5G's own local wireless signal (AP mode), so you can configure and control connected devices from a laptop or tablet in air-gapped or offline environments. Note the AP mode is for device management only, not internet access.

Can it power machines on and off remotely?

Yes. It supports Wake-on-LAN, ships with an ATX board (USB) for reliable wake-up and power cycling, and works with a Fingerbot to physically press a power button — eliminating site visits just to flip a switch.
