Grandstream HT814 Analog FXS IP Gateway – 4 Port + NAT Router

The Grandstream HT814 puts four analogue phones or fax machines onto a VoIP system. This is the original HT814 — the four-port member of Grandstream's HT800 family, the ATAs providers shipped by the pallet when analogue lines started disappearing.

Each FXS port is its own extension: plug in the analogue handset, fax machine or door phone, register the port, and the device carries on exactly as before — same dial tone, same ring — while the call travels over SIP.

Four ports is the size that covers a small building's leftovers. A reception handset, a fax, a lift phone and an alarm dialler is a typical set — the analogue devices nobody wants to replace, all landed on one box. Two Gigabit ports with a NAT router inside mean it can sit at the network edge or on the LAN. A newer revision exists as the HT814 V2; the job they do is the same.

Frequently asked questions

Will my existing phones just work?

Yes. An FXS port supplies line voltage, dial tone and ring current exactly like the old analogue wall socket, so the handset behaves normally. Nothing changes for the person using it.

Can the ports have different numbers?

Yes — each port registers independently, and with two SIP profiles the ports can even be split across different providers. Phone, fax, lift and alarm, each with its own number, on one unit.

Does fax actually work?

Fax is the part worth planning. T.38 relay carries the fax as data rather than as audio, which is what makes it reliable — but your provider has to support T.38 at the other end. Ask them before you port the fax number.

Two ports or four?

Count the analogue devices, then add the ones you forgot — lift phones, door entry panels and alarm diallers turn up in most buildings. If the honest count is one or two, the HT812 saves money; at five or more, look at the HT818.

This or the V2?

Same job — four analogue ports onto SIP. The V2 is the newer revision; this original registers to the same platforms and is the unit to match if you already run a fleet of them.
