TP-Link Omada SG3428X L2+ Non PoE Switch

The TP-Link Omada SG3428X (TL-SG3428X) is a 24-port Gigabit L2+ switch with four 10 Gbps SFP+ slots and 128 Gbps of switching capacity — the non-PoE choice for the centre of a growing network, aggregating access switches and servers over 10G while serving two dozen Gigabit devices directly. And it does all this fanless, in silence.

Management follows the Omada pattern: centralised cloud management via the web or the Omada app, or standalone via web, CLI, SNMP and RMON. Static routing, VLAN, ACL, QoS and IGMP Snooping cover the essentials, while OAM, DDM and ERPS ring protection add the diagnostics and resilience expected at the L2+ tier. The durable metal chassis is rackmountable, with the kit included.

Its PoE twin is the SG3428XMP; for an all-fibre aggregation layer see the SG3428XF. At the gateway, the 10G-ready Omada ER8411 router matches its uplink speeds.

Where does this switch belong?

At the centre of a small-to-medium network: access switches and servers connect over its four 10G SFP+ slots, while its 24 Gigabit ports serve local wired devices. It is the aggregation point the rest of the LAN hangs off.

Does it supply PoE?

No — it is the non-PoE model. If you need the same switch with 24 PoE+ ports, choose the SG3428XMP.

Do I need an Omada controller?

No — standalone management via web, CLI, SNMP or RMON is fully supported; a controller adds cloud access and single-dashboard multi-site management.

Is it noisy?

No — unusually for a 10G-uplink switch it is fanless, so it is as happy in an office cupboard as in a comms room.
