List PriceThe Fortinet FortiAP U231F is part of the FortiAP-U family, which adds the flexibility of dual 5GHz support to Fortinet's Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) line-up. Radio 1 can run on either the 2.4GHz or the 5GHz (high) band, Radio 2 is a fixed 2x2 5GHz radio, and Radio 3 serves 2.4GHz clients while also handling dual-band background scanning — giving up to 1201 Mbps, 1201 Mbps and 574 Mbps respectively.
It can be managed intelligently through a standalone FortiWLC controller, an integrated FortiGate security controller, or through cloud management — a flexibility built to cover deployments from a large campus down to hundreds of branch locations.
OFDMA and the other Wi-Fi 6 efficiency features built into the wider FortiAP-U family improve client throughput and overall network efficiency, and the AP integrates with Fortinet's Security Fabric for protection at the network edge.

Frequently asked questions
How is the FortiAP-U231F managed?
It supports standalone FortiWLC controllers, integrated FortiGate security controllers, or cloud management, so it can slot into a campus deployment with a dedicated wireless controller or into a branch estate managed centrally from the cloud.
What's the difference between FortiCare Premium and Elite Support?
Both are FortiCare support subscriptions for the FortiAP-U231F. Elite Support sits above Premium as the higher tier — Fortinet also sells a Premium-to-Elite upgrade SKU, confirming Elite is a superset of Premium cover rather than a separate track. A separate FortiGuard Universal Threat Protection (UTP) subscription is also available for FortiGate or FortiCloud-managed FortiAP-U family units.
What power does the FortiAP-U231F need?
It is powered by 802.3at PoE by default; 802.3af PoE also works but runs the radios at reduced TX power with no USB function. Maximum power consumption is 18.5W, and it can be supplied via the SP-FAP200-PA-XX AC adaptor.
