List PriceThe Fortinet FortiExtender 100A-VZW is a 3G/4G wireless WAN extender built for the distributed enterprise, retail locations and SMBs, working alongside a FortiGate to provide a cellular backup connection to the primary wired WAN link. If the wired connection fails, FortiOS on the FortiGate fails over rapidly to the FortiExtender's cellular link, keeping the site online.
This Verizon-certified variant carries an internal LTE modem covering AWS and 700 MHz (Band 17) with MIMO, plus 3G HSPA+/UMTS and 2G GPRS fallback, so it can serve as either a primary or backup WAN connection for small branch offices, retail point-of-sale and kiosks.
Once connected to the FortiGate it appears as a standard network interface in FortiOS, giving administrators single pane of glass management, full UTM security and visibility of cellular data quota usage. It is PoE-powered and IP55-rated, so it can be sited up to 100m from the FortiGate or switch to maximise signal strength, indoors or out.
