When wired broadband is patchy or simply not available, the Spitz AX (GL-X3000) keeps a site online over mobile networks instead. It is a Wi-Fi 6 cellular gateway built for reliable connectivity in remote locations and high-speed internet in urban areas, with six external antennas for long-range reception and dual SIM slots so you can run whichever network has the stronger signal.

Its Multi-WAN engine uses Ethernet, cellular, repeater and tethering connections at the same time, with load-balancing to spread traffic by custom proportion and failover that switches to the next connection automatically if the primary link fails. Inside the building, Wi-Fi 6 delivers up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2,402 Mbps on 5 GHz, and DFS approval in the US, CA, EU and UK opens extra 5 GHz channels in congested areas.

Security is built in rather than bolted on: OpenVPN and WireGuard come pre-installed with support for 30+ VPN services, encrypting traffic for every connected device at up to 300 Mbps over WireGuard and 150 Mbps over OpenVPN. AdGuard Home, DNS over TLS/HTTPS and GL.iNet's GoodCloud remote management round out a platform that runs on OpenWrt 21.02 with more than 5,000 ready-made plug-ins.

Yes. The Spitz AX has two SIM slots on a single modem, so you can select whichever ISP has the stronger connection at your location and switch between data services in a snap — useful on road trips and at sites where one network is unreliable.

What happens if my main internet connection fails?

The Spitz AX supports network failover with configurable priorities across its connection methods (Ethernet, cellular, repeater, tethering). If the primary connection fails, the router automatically switches to the next method without interruption.

How fast is the VPN?

WireGuard runs at up to 300 Mbps and OpenVPN at up to 150 Mbps in client mode (tested on a local network; real-world speeds depend on your configuration, and speeds are lower when the device runs as a server).

Is it suitable for an RV or rural property?

Yes — it is designed for exactly that. GL.iNet has partnered with leading RV antenna manufacturers, the router can mount to an RV's interior walls, and the six antennas plus Multi-WAN keep a country house or vehicle connected over long ranges.

Does it support eSIM?

The Spitz AX is compatible with GL.iNet's eSIM solution. The feature currently requires pairing a physical eSIM card with the firmware; integrated eSIM chips are available for bulk orders only.
