Grandstream GCC6010W Unified Communications & Networking Convergence System

The Grandstream GCC6010W is the GCC6010 with a Wi-Fi access point built in. It is the smallest complete network you can buy in a single box: VPN router, next-generation firewall, IP PBX, switch and Wi-Fi, with five Gigabit ports and two 2.5 Gigabit SFP ports.

Be realistic about the Wi-Fi. A built-in access point covers the room the box is in. That is genuinely enough for a single open office, a small practice or a serviced unit — and it is not a substitute for proper access points across a building with walls, floors and corridors. If the Wi-Fi has to reach further than the room, buy the plain GCC6010 and add GWN access points; the built-in controller will manage them.

The firewall is genuine — anti-virus, layer 3-7 IDS/IPS, deep packet inspection and SSL detection — with multi-WAN load balancing, failover and hot standby high availability.

Frequently asked questions

Will the built-in Wi-Fi cover my office?

The room it is in, yes. A floor with walls and corridors, no. Wi-Fi is stopped by walls, not distance, and a box in a cupboard covers the cupboard. If coverage matters, add GWN access points — this unit will manage them.

GCC6010W or GCC6010 plus an access point?

For one open room, the W is neater and cheaper. For anything with internal walls, the plain unit plus a properly placed access point will work better — and an access point on the ceiling always beats a radio inside a box on a shelf.

Is the firewall a real firewall?

Yes — anti-virus, layer 3-7 intrusion detection and prevention, deep packet inspection and SSL detection. Bought separately it would cost more than everything else in the cupboard.

Is the PBX as capable as a UCM?

It is a full IP PBX with voice, video and collaboration. For the largest call capacities or many analogue ports, a dedicated UCM is still the right answer.

Do I still need a SIP provider?

Yes. The built-in PBX is the phone system, not the phone lines.
