Grandstream GXP2200EXT Extension Module

The Grandstream GXP2200EXT is an extension module for high-call-volume desks: 20 dual-coloured extension keys, two arrow keys for page switching, and a backlit LCD showing 40 contacts per module.

The two arrow keys are what make forty contacts fit on twenty keys — the module pages between two sets. It is a sensible compromise: twenty keys is about as many as a person can scan at a glance, and the second page is there when the list is longer.

Busy lamp field is the point. A receptionist sees at a glance who is on a call and who is free, then transfers with one press instead of asking the caller to hold. Up to four modules can be connected for 160 contacts from one desk.

It fits the GXP2140, GXP2170 and GXV3240. Check your model before ordering — newer GRP and GXV phones take the GBX20 instead.

Which phones does it fit?

The GXP2140, GXP2170 and GXV3240. If you have a newer GRP2615, GRP2624, GRP2650, GRP2670, GXV3350 or GXV3450, the GBX20 is the module for those. Send us your model number and we will confirm.

How do 20 keys show 40 contacts?

The two arrow keys page between two sets of twenty. That keeps the panel scannable — twenty keys is about as many as anyone takes in at a glance.

What does busy lamp field actually do?

It shows the state of other extensions: free, ringing, or on a call. A receptionist can see that before transferring, so the caller is not put through to a phone that is already engaged.

Do I need more than one?

Forty contacts covers most reception desks. Up to four modules gives 160 — but a wall of keys nobody can find anything on is worse than a shorter, well-organised list.

Does it need its own power supply?

Modules draw from the phone, so a phone carrying several has less headroom on PoE. If a desk with modules is misbehaving, mains power for the phone is the first thing to try.
