Conference phones live on tables, and tables have no sockets. The GAC2500 can run over PoE, which is the tidy answer — but a meeting room fed from a non-PoE switch, or a phone that moves between rooms, ends up depending on this adapter. It is also the piece most likely to vanish when the room is rearranged.
Use the correct adapter. Voltage and polarity vary across the Grandstream range, and a generic supply of roughly the right size can damage the device.

Frequently asked questions
Does the GAC2500 need this if I have PoE?
No — with PoE at the table the phone powers itself over the network cable and this adapter stays in the box. It is for rooms without PoE, and as the spare for when the original disappears.
Can I use any adapter of the same size?
Better not to. Voltage and polarity differ across the range and the wrong supply can damage the device.
