TP-Link Omada EAP653 HD Ceiling Access Point

The EAP653 is the slim-line AX3000 workhorse of the Omada ceiling range: simultaneous 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz for a 2976 Mbps total, with a 160 MHz channel (HE160) doubling per-stream data at peak times. It is the sensible default for offices, retail floors and meeting rooms moving up from Wi-Fi 5.

At Φ160 mm × 33.6 mm it sits discreetly on the ceiling and powers over a single cable from an 802.3at PoE+ switch such as the Omada SG2210P (a DC adapter is available separately if PoE is not an option). Omada SDN manages the whole estate locally or from the cloud, and an OC200 controller adds seamless roaming across a multi-AP site. Need more 5 GHz throughput? The EAP673 steps up to 4804 Mbps.

Frequently asked questions

Is a power supply included?

No — the EAP653 is designed to be powered by 802.3at PoE+ from a switch or injector. A DC adapter is sold separately if you have no PoE at the mounting point.

Does it need an Omada controller?

No — it manages standalone via web UI or the Omada app. Adopting it into Omada SDN with a controller adds centralised cloud management and site-wide seamless roaming.

EAP653 or EAP620 HD?

The EAP653 gives you AX3000 speeds and HE160; the EAP620 HD is AX1800 tuned for very high client density. For most offices the EAP653 is the better all-rounder.
