TP-Link Omada SG2005P PD Outdoor Smart PoE Switch

The TP-Link Omada SG2005P-PD solves a very specific outdoor problem: devices beyond the 100 m Ethernet limit with no power nearby. It is itself powered over PoE — no mains required — taking a single Gigabit PoE++ feed in and passing four Gigabit PoE+ ports out, doubling source-to-device distance to 200 m without losing Gigabit speeds. Perfect for long-range surveillance cameras and access points.

The output budget scales with what feeds it: up to 64 W when powered by 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W), 44 W from 802.3bt Type 3, 19 W from 802.3at and 6 W from 802.3af. The IP55 enclosure is waterproof, dustproof and UV-resistant, operates from -40 to 60 °C, carries 4 kV lightning protection, and mounts to a wall or pole with the included kits.

Feed it from a PoE++ port — such as ports 1–2 of the SG1210PP — and manage it alongside outdoor APs like the EAP610-Outdoor through Omada SDN, with an OC200 controller providing cloud access and multi-site management.

Does it need a mains supply?

No — that is the point. It draws all its power from the upstream PoE++ port and passes it on to up to four devices, so a camera pole needs only one Ethernet cable.

How much power can it pass on?

It depends on the source: up to 64 W of output budget from an 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) feed, 44 W from 802.3bt Type 3, 19 W from 802.3at and 6 W from 802.3af. Feed it with PoE++ for anything beyond a single small device.

Is it really outdoor-rated?

Yes — IP55 against water and dust, UV-resistant housing, -40 to 60 °C operation and 4 kV lightning protection, with wall and pole mounting kits in the box.

Do I need an Omada controller?

No — it works standalone via its web interface. Add an OC200/OC300 controller (or software controller) when you want cloud access, remote management and multi-site visibility across the whole Omada estate.
