TP-Link Omada SG3428MP L2+ PoE Switch

The TP-Link Omada SG3428MP (TL-SG3428MP) is a 24-port L2+ PoE switch with the budget to back it up: 384 W shared across twenty-four Gigabit 802.3af/at PoE+ ports means high-draw access points and PTZ cameras on most ports at once, not just on paper. Four Gigabit SFP slots handle uplinks and aggregation.

The L2+ tier adds operational depth beyond the smart range: OAM and DDM for link and optical diagnostics, and ERPS for rapid protection and recovery in ring topologies — valuable for campus and multi-building networks. Management is classic Omada: centralised cloud control via the web or Omada app, or standalone via web, CLI, SNMP and RMON, with static routing, VLAN, ACL, QoS and IGMP Snooping throughout, in a rackmountable metal chassis.

Add 10G uplinks with the SG3428XMP, or drop to the smart-tier SG2428P if 250 W and standard features are enough. Port-side it feeds APs such as the EAP653 all day long.

Can every port draw 30 W?

Each port supplies up to 30 W and the shared budget is 384 W — enough for well over half the ports at absolute maximum, and effectively all ports at typical AP/camera draw.

Do I need an Omada controller?

No — standalone management via web, CLI, SNMP or RMON is fully supported. A controller adds cloud access and one dashboard across the estate.

What is ERPS for?
