TP-Link Omada SG2428P Smart PoE Switch

The TP-Link Omada SG2428P (TL-SG2428P) is the 24-port workhorse of the Omada smart PoE range: twenty-four Gigabit 802.3af/at PoE+ ports with a 250 W budget and four Gigabit SFP slots for uplinks. One rack unit powers and connects an entire office of access points, IP phones and cameras.

Adopt it into Omada SDN for centralised cloud management via the web or the Omada app, or manage it standalone via web, CLI, SNMP and RMON. Static routing, VLAN, ACL, QoS and IGMP Snooping deliver segmentation, security and clean real-time traffic, all inside a durable rackmountable metal chassis.

It slots in behind an Omada ER7206 VPN router and feeds ceiling APs such as the EAP653; for a 384 W budget and L2+ features at the same port count, step up to the SG3428MP.

Is 250 W enough for 24 devices?

Each port can supply up to 30 W, and the shared budget is 250 W. Typical access points and phones draw well under 30 W, so a full complement of everyday devices fits — total your actual device draw for camera-heavy or high-power installs.

Do I need an Omada controller?

No — it runs standalone via web, CLI, SNMP or RMON. Add an OC200/OC300 or software controller for cloud access and single-dashboard management of the whole estate.

Smart (SG2428P) or L2+ (SG3428MP)?

Choose the SG2428P for standard small-business needs. The SG3428MP adds a bigger 384 W budget plus L2+ features such as OAM, DDM and ERPS ring protection for more demanding networks.

Is a power supply included?

Yes — it ships with a power cord, rackmount kit, rubber feet and installation guide.
