The TL-SG1024 is the classic 24-port gigabit rackmount switch: plug it in, patch it up and forget about it. There is no configuration to do and nothing to manage, which makes it the straightforward choice when a comms cabinet simply needs more gigabit ports — desks, printers, CCTV recorders, anything wired.

The rackmount kit is included for a standard 19-inch cabinet, along with rubber feet if it is going on a shelf, and it powers from a normal UK IEC lead. If the same cabinet also needs to power access points or IP phones, look at the SG1428PE instead; for a managed alternative with VLANs and cloud control, the Omada SG2428P is the step up.

Unmanaged or managed — which do I need?

If the network is one flat LAN and you just need more gigabit ports, an unmanaged switch like this is the simplest and cheapest answer. If you need VLANs, QoS for voice or central monitoring, choose a smart-managed model instead.

Does it provide PoE?

No PoE is listed for this model. If you need to power access points, cameras or IP phones over the network cable, pick a PoE switch such as the SG1428PE.

Can it go in a standard cabinet?

Yes — it is a rackmount unit and ships with the rackmount kit for 19-inch cabinets, plus rubber feet if you would rather shelf-mount it.

Is there anything to configure?
