Grandstream GDS3712 Door Entry System
The Grandstream GDS3712 is a video door entry panel with an unusual party trick: instead of a conventional narrow lens it uses a hemispheric camera giving a 180-degree wall-to-wall view. That means it sees the entire approach to the door rather than a face-shaped crop, so it doubles as a genuinely useful surveillance camera as well as an intercom.
Video is 1080p at up to 30fps with 120 dB wide dynamic range, and three simultaneous streams let you send SIP video to phones and indoor stations while an NVR records at full resolution over ONVIF. On the entry side there are two relays for the lock and an alarm or light circuit, two inputs for an exit button and door contact, and motion detection with event-triggered snapshots by email or FTP. The metal body is IP66 and IK10 rated, and the whole thing runs from a single 802.3af PoE cable.
Ideal for
- Main entrances where you want door entry and CCTV coverage from one device
- Doorways with a wide approach that a standard lens would miss
- Residential blocks, HMOs and student accommodation
- Offices and surgeries needing a visual record of who was let in
- Narrow door frames and mullions — the panel is only 80 mm wide
- Sites already running an ONVIF NVR that should record the door
Key features
- Hemispheric 180-degree camera — wall-to-wall coverage of the doorway, not just a narrow view of the caller's face
- 1080p at 30fps — 1/2.7-inch 2MP sensor with up to 120 dB wide dynamic range for backlit doorways
- Three simultaneous streams — 1920x1080, 1280x720 and 320x240, so live SIP video and NVR recording can run at once
- Doubles as a surveillance camera — ONVIF compliant and GSURF Pro compatible for recording to an NVR
- SIP video calling — ring video phones, indoor stations and smartphones simultaneously
- Two relay outputs — 125VAC/0.5A or 30VDC/2A for an electric lock plus an alarm or light circuit
- Two alarm inputs — optocoupler inputs for an exit button and door contact
- Motion detection with snapshots — event-triggered images sent by email or FTP, with up to 4 privacy masks
- IP66 and IK10 rated — weatherproof and vandal-resistant, specified -30°C to 60°C
- Single-cable install — IEEE 802.3af Class 3 PoE for power and network on one Cat5e run

Frequently asked questions
What does the hemispheric lens actually change?
A standard door camera sees a narrow cone, so a caller standing slightly to one side, or a child, can fall outside the frame. The GDS3712's 180-degree lens covers the whole wall face, which also makes it useful as a general entrance camera.
Can it record to an NVR?
Yes. It is ONVIF compliant and works with GSURF Pro, and because it supports three simultaneous streams it can record at 1080p while still sending live video to a phone or indoor station.
Does it have a card reader or keypad?
No — the GDS3712 is a single call-button panel. If you need RFID cards, fobs or a PIN keypad at the door, look at the GDS3710 or the GDS372x range.
How is video answered?
Over SIP, to Grandstream indoor stations such as the GSC3570, to video desk phones, or to a smartphone app. Multiple destinations can ring at the same time.
Will it fit a narrow door frame?
The on-wall panel is 173 x 80 x 36 mm, so it suits mullions and narrow frames that a wide video panel cannot take. A flush in-wall installation is also possible.
