Grandstream GVR3552 Network Video Recorder (NVR)

The Grandstream GVR3552 is a network video recorder for small business and residential surveillance: up to 16 channels at 720p or 8 at 1080p, recording to two internal hard drives up to 4 TB total, with motion detection, flexible recording rules and support for both Grandstream GXV36xx cameras and third-party ONVIF cameras.

Hard drives are not included, and that is the first thing to budget. An NVR without drives records nothing. Fit surveillance-rated drives — they are built for 24/7 writing in a way desktop drives are not — and size them against how many days of footage you actually need to keep.

Recording rules are fully customisable: continuous, scheduled, motion-triggered with sixteen definable target areas, or manual. Motion-triggered recording is what makes 4 TB last — an empty corridor at 3am does not need to be stored.

Frequently asked questions

Are hard drives included?

No — the two bays are empty. Fit surveillance-rated drives; desktop drives are not built for continuous writing and fail early in this job.

How many days of footage will 4 TB hold?

It depends on channel count, resolution and whether you record continuously or on motion — which is why we will not quote one number. Motion-triggered recording typically multiplies retention several times over continuous. Tell us the camera count and the retention you need and we will do the arithmetic.

Will it record my existing non-Grandstream cameras?

If they are ONVIF compliant, generally yes. Send us the camera models and we will confirm before you order.

16 cameras or 8 — which is it?

Both: 16 channels at 720p, or 8 at 1080p. The recorder has a total throughput budget and resolution spends it. Plan the camera list against that.

Can I view it remotely?

Yes — it is built for networked monitoring, with search and playback from the network rather than at the box.
