Grandstream GWN7702P 16-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Switch with 8 PoE Ports

The Grandstream GWN7702P is a sixteen-port Gigabit unmanaged switch with PoE+ on eight of its ports and a 138 W total power budget. There is nothing to log into and nothing to configure — plug it in and it works.

The split matters. Eight powered ports for phones, cameras and access points; eight plain ports for computers, printers and the uplink. That is the shape of a real small office, and it means you are not paying for a power stage on ports that will never use it.

138 watts is a genuinely useful budget at this price. Eight 802.3at ports at full 30 W would be 240 W, so it is not unlimited — but it comfortably covers eight desk phones and a couple of access points, or six cameras, which is what most sixteen-port installs actually put on it.

Frequently asked questions

Can all eight PoE ports draw 30 W?

No. 30 W is the per-port maximum; 138 W is the total for the switch. Eight devices at full PoE+ draw would need 240 W. Add up the actual wattages of what you are plugging in.

Which ports supply power?

Eight of the sixteen. Plan the patching before installation day — and keep the uplink on one of the non-PoE ports so a powered port is not wasted.

Can I create VLANs on it?

No. It is unmanaged: no web interface, no configuration at all. For VLANs and a separated guest network, the GWN7711P is the managed equivalent.

Will it power an access point?

An 802.3af or 802.3at one, yes. A PoE++ (802.3bt) access point needs more than this switch can give — use an injector for that device or a PoE++ switch.

Does it need cooling?

The switch itself draws around 10 W; the heat comes from the PoE output. Give it some air in a closed cabinet, particularly if you are near the full budget.

Is unmanaged a false economy?

Not for a small site. If nobody will ever configure VLANs, a managed switch just adds cost and a login nobody remembers. Buy managed when you have a reason.
