Grandstream GS-POE30W-MG PoE Injector 30W

The Grandstream GS-POE30W-MG is a 30 W PoE+ injector — the mid-size of the three, and the one most access points actually need.

An injector solves a one-device problem. Data comes in one port, data-plus-power leaves the other, and the powered device at the far end never knows a switch was not involved. The 802.3at PoE+ class is where modern Wi-Fi access points, pan-tilt cameras and video phones live — devices the smaller 802.3af injector cannot feed.

Because 802.3at is backwards compatible, it happily powers 802.3af devices too — the device negotiates and draws only what it needs. If you are buying one injector for a spares shelf, this is the flexible size.

Frequently asked questions

Which injector do I need?

Match the device's PoE class, not its plug. 802.3af devices are fine on the 15 W; 802.3at PoE+ devices — most access points and PTZ cameras — need this one; 802.3bt devices need the 60 W. The device datasheet states its class.

Will 30 W hurt a small device?

No. PoE negotiates — the device draws what it needs and the injector supplies no more. Oversizing the injector is safe; undersizing it is the mistake that costs a second purchase.

Does it slow the connection down?

No — the ports pass traffic at up to 2.5G, so even a multi-gig access point link crosses the injector without a bottleneck.

Injector or PoE switch?

One or two devices: injectors. More: a PoE switch — cheaper per port, tidier, and one place to look when something loses power.
