Grandstream GWN7702 16-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Switch

The Grandstream GWN7702 is a 16-port Gigabit unmanaged switch — enough ports for a department, with nothing to configure. It is the practical choice where a room has outgrown an 8-port switch but nobody is going to manage VLANs.

It does not supply PoE. Everything plugged into it needs its own power — worth checking before ordering, since at sixteen ports it is likely something in the list is a camera or an access point.

Sixteen ports in one box also beats two 8-port switches chained together: fewer hops, fewer power supplies and one less thing to suspect when something goes wrong.

Frequently asked questions

Does it supply PoE?

No. Anything plugged into it needs its own power supply. With sixteen ports it is worth going through the list first — one camera or access point in there and you need a PoE model or an injector.

Unmanaged — what am I giving up?

VLANs, QoS and any visibility into what the switch is doing. At sixteen ports that starts to matter: if voice, CCTV and office traffic share this switch and you want them separated, a managed switch is the right answer.

One 16-port or two 8-port switches?

One, nearly always. Fewer hops, fewer power supplies, and one less thing to suspect when something goes wrong. Two only make sense if the cabling arrives in two places.

Do I need to configure it?

No. There is nothing to configure and no web interface.

Is it silent?

Yes — fanless, so it can sit in an office rather than a cupboard.
