Grandstream GWN7803 24-Port Gigabit Network Switch with 4 SFP

The Grandstream GWN7803 is a 24-port Gigabit Layer 2+ managed switch with four SFP uplinks. It is the standard floor switch: enough ports for a department, enough management to keep voice, CCTV, guest and office traffic properly separated, and four fibre uplinks to get back to the core.

It does not supply PoE. That is deliberate and it is what makes it cheaper. If the phones, cameras or access points on this floor need power from the network cable, you want the PoE model or a separate injector — do not discover this on installation day.

Management is the reason to choose it over an unmanaged switch. VLANs, QoS, link aggregation and a full set of security features come as standard, from its own web interface or free through GWN.Cloud.

Frequently asked questions

Does it supply PoE?

No. This is the non-PoE model — devices plugged into it need their own power. If you are connecting phones, cameras or access points, choose the PoE version or budget for injectors.

What does Layer 2+ give me over an unmanaged switch?

VLANs to separate voice, CCTV, guest and office traffic; QoS so calls are not disrupted by a large file transfer; link aggregation; and the security features that let you keep an untrusted device off the rest of the network.

Do I need Layer 3 instead?

Only if you have several VLANs that must talk to each other and the router has become the bottleneck. Otherwise Layer 2+ is the right tier and costs less — see the GWN7813 if routing is genuinely needed.

Do I need the SFP uplinks?

Only if the run back to the main switch is long or crosses a building — fibre solves distance and electrical isolation. For a short copper run they will sit unused, and that is fine.

Is the management licensed?

No. It manages from its own web interface or free through GWN.Cloud, alongside the access points and routers.

24 ports or 48?

Count everything that plugs in and leave headroom. Two 24-port switches also make sense where the cabling arrives in two places — one 48-port switch is cheaper per port but puts the whole floor behind one box.
