Grandstream GWN7801P Pro 8-Port PoE Network Switch with 2 SFP

The Grandstream GWN7801P is an 8-port Gigabit PoE switch with two SFP uplinks and full Layer 2+ management. It is the right size for a small office, a shop or a floor — enough ports for the phones and access points, and enough management to keep voice, CCTV and guest traffic apart properly.

The PoE is what makes it more than a hub in a cupboard: phones, cameras and access points take their power from the network cable, so there are no adapters at the ceiling and no plug sockets to find behind a desk.

Two SFP uplinks let it connect to the rest of the network over fibre, which matters when the comms cupboard is a long run away or across a building.

Frequently asked questions

How many devices can it power?

All eight ports supply PoE, but the total budget is shared between them. Add up what your devices actually draw — desk phones are a few watts, access points more, cameras with heaters far more — and leave headroom.

What does Layer 2+ give me over an unmanaged switch?

VLANs to separate voice, CCTV, guest and office traffic; QoS so calls are not disrupted by a large file transfer; link aggregation; and the security features that keep an untrusted device off the rest of the network.

Do I need the SFP uplinks?

Only if the run back to the main switch is long or crosses a building — fibre solves distance and electrical isolation. For a short copper run in one office, they will sit unused, and that is fine.

GWN7801P or GWN7801?

PoE. The P powers phones, cameras and access points down the network cable; the plain 7801 does not. If nothing needs power, the non-PoE model costs less.

Is the management licensed?

No. It manages from its own web interface or free through GWN.Cloud, alongside the access points and routers.

Is 8 ports enough?

Count everything that plugs in, including printers, cameras and access points, then leave a couple spare. If you are at seven already, buy the 16 or 24-port model — daisy-chaining small switches is how networks become hard to diagnose.
