Grandstream GWN7701PA 8-Port Gigabit 8-Port PoE+ Switch

The Grandstream GWN7701PA is the 8-port unmanaged switch with PoE+ on every port — up to 30 W each. It is the one to buy when everything plugging in needs power: eight cameras, eight access points, eight phones, or any mixture of them.

That is the difference from the GWN7701P, which powers only four of its eight ports. If more than four devices need power, this is the switch and the cheaper one will simply not do the job.

Unmanaged means there is nothing to configure and nothing to log into. For a camera run or a small office that is exactly right; for a site that needs VLANs and QoS it is not, and a managed switch is the honest answer.

Frequently asked questions

Can all eight ports really deliver 30 W at once?

Each port is capable of up to 30 W, but as with any PoE switch there is a total budget shared between them. Add up what your devices actually draw — phones are a few watts, access points more, cameras with heaters far more — and check the datasheet total before assuming eight times thirty.

GWN7701PA or GWN7701P?

How many devices need power. The P powers four of its eight ports; the PA powers all eight. If five or more things need PoE, only the PA will do.

Unmanaged — what am I giving up?

VLANs, QoS and any visibility into what the switch is doing. If you need to separate voice, CCTV and guest traffic, or prioritise calls over file transfers, you need a managed switch — the GWN7801P is the equivalent with management.

Do I need to configure it?

No. There is nothing to configure and no web interface. That is a feature in a small office and a limitation in a larger one.

Is it silent?

Yes — fanless, so it can sit in an office or under a desk rather than in a cupboard.
