Grandstream GDS3710 HD IP Video Door System

The Grandstream GDS3710 is three devices in one weatherable panel by the door: a 1080p surveillance camera, a SIP intercom and an RFID access control reader. Someone presses the button, a desk phone rings and shows them; a member of staff taps a card and the door opens. Both go through the phone system you already have.

The 180-degree viewing angle is the specification that matters at a door. A narrow lens sees a face and nothing else; 180 degrees gives wall-to-wall coverage, so you can see what is beside the person as well as the person — which is usually the point of putting a camera there.

It carries alarm-in and alarm-out for tying into existing security equipment, a motion detector, LED illumination and a lighting control switch, and it takes PoE, so one cable does power, network, video and door release.

Frequently asked questions

What does someone at the door actually see and hear?

They press the call button and it rings your phones. On a video phone the person answering sees them; on an audio phone they just talk. Either way the door can be released from the handset.

Do I need a separate camera at the door?

No — that is the point of it. It is a 1080p IP camera as well as an intercom, so it can record to your video system and act as the door camera at the same time.

What can open the door?

An RFID card or fob at the reader, a member of staff releasing it from a phone, or the alarm-in/alarm-out wiring if you are integrating with existing access control.

Do I need a Grandstream phone system?

No — it is a standards-based SIP device and will register to most systems. It is at its best on a Grandstream UCM with Grandstream video phones, where the video and the door release are already integrated.

How is it powered?

Over Ethernet. One cable to the door carries power, network and video, which is what makes retrofitting practical. The door lock itself still needs its own wiring.

Will it survive outdoors?

It is built for door mounting with vandal-resistant construction. For an exposed position, ask us about the mounting options — a recessed or hooded mount makes a real difference to the life of any door station.
