Grandstream GXV3480 Android IP Video Phone

The Grandstream GXV3480 is the large-screen Android video phone: an 8-inch 1280×800 IPS capacitive touchscreen, a 2-megapixel camera and 16 lines. At this size the screen stops being a phone display and becomes something you actually watch — a door camera, a room schedule, a dashboard, a video call you can see properly.

It carries Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, so it can go on a desk with no network socket and pair with a wireless headset.

It runs Android, which is where most of its value beyond telephony comes from: apps run alongside the phone software, so one device covers video calling, door entry and whatever else the room needs.

Frequently asked questions

GXV3480 or GXV3450?

Screen size and wireless. The 3480 has an 8-inch screen and Wi-Fi 6; the 3450 has a 5-inch screen and Wi-Fi 5. If the phone will be used as a monitor — for cameras, a door panel, a room display — the 8-inch earns the difference. For video calls alone, the 3450 is enough.

Is it really a full Android device?

Yes — it runs Android and can install apps alongside the telephony. Treat it as a networked computer: keep its firmware current, and do not let staff install whatever they like on it.

Do I need 16 lines?

Almost certainly not on a normal desk. Sixteen is for reception, dispatch and management, where one person answers for many numbers. For an ordinary desk a GRP phone costs a fraction of this.

Can it show my door intercom?

Yes — one of the common reasons to buy it. A Grandstream door intercom can call the phone and show its video, so reception sees who is at the door on a screen large enough to recognise them.

Does Wi-Fi 6 matter on a desk phone?

Not for bandwidth — a call needs very little. It helps on a busy floor where dozens of devices share an access point, which is where a Wi-Fi 5 device starts to suffer.

How is it powered?

Over Ethernet on a cabled desk. On Wi-Fi it needs its own power supply, since there is no cable to carry PoE. A large screen draws more than a basic desk phone, so check the switch's budget when deploying several.
