Grandstream GXV3450 Android IP Video Phone

The Grandstream GXV3450 is an Android video phone with a 5-inch 1280×720 capacitive touchscreen and a 2-megapixel camera. It is a desk phone that also runs Android apps — which in practice means it can be a video endpoint, a door-entry monitor and a room-booking panel without three separate devices on the desk.

16 lines and SIP accounts is far beyond a normal desk phone, and it is what makes this a reception, dispatch or management handset rather than a general-issue one.

Connectivity is generous: dual Gigabit ports with PoE and PoE+, integrated Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. It can sit on a cable or on Wi-Fi, take a Bluetooth headset, and power itself from the switch either way.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really a full Android device?

Yes — it runs Android and can install apps alongside the telephony. That is how it becomes a door-entry monitor or a room panel. It is also worth saying plainly: treat it as a networked computer, keep its firmware current, and do not let staff install whatever they like on it.

Do I need 16 lines?

Almost certainly not on a normal desk. Sixteen is for reception, dispatch and management, where one person answers for many numbers. For an ordinary desk a GRP phone costs a fraction of this and does the job.

GXV3450 or GXV3480?

Screen size and wireless. The 3450 has a 5-inch screen and Wi-Fi 5; the 3480 has an 8-inch screen and Wi-Fi 6. If the phone will be used as a monitor — for cameras, a door panel, a room display — the larger screen is worth the difference. For video calls alone, the 5-inch is fine.

Can it show my door intercom?

Yes — that is one of the common reasons to buy it. A Grandstream door intercom can call the phone and show its video, so reception sees who is at the door on the phone they are already holding.

Does it need PoE?

It supports PoE and PoE+, which is the usual install. A video phone with a bright screen draws more than a basic desk phone, so check the switch's power budget when deploying several.

Can it work on Wi-Fi?

Yes, Wi-Fi 5 is built in. Bear in mind that on Wi-Fi it needs its own power supply, since there is no cable to carry PoE.
