Grandstream GMC08 Multi-Bay Battery Charger for WP8XX

The Grandstream GMC08 solves a problem every shift-based site runs into eventually: handsets that need charging faster than the working day allows. Rather than charging phones, it charges up to eight spare batteries at once in independent bays, so a depleted battery can be swapped out in seconds and the handset goes straight back into service.

Each of the eight slots works independently with its own dual-colour LED, and the charger can discharge as well as charge. That matters more than it sounds: it lets you set batteries to a low 20–30% state for shipping, a 60% intermediate level for longer storage, or a full 100% charge for immediate use. A thermostatically controlled cooling fan and automatic shutdown at extreme temperatures protect the cells, backed by over-voltage, over-charge, over-current, short-circuit and leak protection.

Frequently asked questions

Does the GMC08 charge handsets or just batteries?

Batteries only. Cells are removed from the handset and placed in the charging bays, which is what makes the swap-and-go approach possible — the phone itself never leaves the floor.

Which handsets are supported?

Grandstream specify the GMC08 for WP820, WP810 and DP730 batteries — the 1500mAh pack. If you run a mixed fleet including WP822, WP825 or WP826 handsets, which use larger packs, contact us and we will confirm compatibility before you order.

Why would I want to discharge a battery?

Lithium cells last longer when stored part-charged rather than full, and freight regulations require a reduced state of charge for shipping. The 20–30% and 60% settings handle both cases.

Can all eight bays be used at the same time?

Yes. Each slot is independent with its own status LED, so batteries at different charge levels can be managed side by side.

Are batteries included?

No — the charger is supplied with its power adapter only. Spare batteries are ordered separately.

How many spare batteries does a shift pattern need?

As a rule of thumb, one spare per handset on a two-shift site and a shared pool on a single-shift site. Tell us the handset count and the shift pattern and we will size it with you.
