Grandstream GSC3516 SIP Intercom Speaker

The Grandstream GSC3516 is a talk-back SIP speaker — and the talk-back is the point. Most paging speakers only push sound out. This one has three directional microphones in a multichannel array plus an omnidirectional auxiliary microphone, with a 4.2 metre pickup distance, so somebody in the room can answer the page without walking to a phone.

That changes what it is for. A warehouse aisle, a workshop, a stockroom, a school corridor — anywhere you want to call out to a space and hear the reply. A one-way speaker makes announcements; this one holds a conversation.

A 15 W high-fidelity HD speaker handles the output, and it supports SIP paging, multicast paging, group paging and push-to-talk, so it fits into whatever paging scheme the site already uses. PoE means one cable to the ceiling or wall.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this and a paging speaker?

This one listens. A normal paging speaker is one-way — you announce and hope. The GSC3516 has microphones with 4.2 metres of pickup, so the person in the aisle can reply without walking to a phone. If you only ever announce, a one-way speaker costs less.

How many do I need?

One per area you want to reach and be heard from, not one per square metre. In a warehouse that usually means one per aisle group or one per zone; in a school, one per corridor run.

What is group paging?

Speakers can be addressed in groups, so you can page one zone, several, or the whole site. Multicast paging means one announcement reaches many speakers without loading the phone system.

Can I page from a desk phone?

Yes. It registers as a SIP device, so dialling it from a desk phone opens the announcement. Push-to-talk is also supported for quicker use.

Is it loud enough for a noisy space?

15 W covers a normal indoor area well. For a yard, a car park or a genuinely loud production floor, use the 50 W GSC3518HS horn instead — it is built for that and it is weatherproof.

How is it powered?

Over Ethernet — one cable to the ceiling or wall, no socket needed at the mounting point.
