Grandstream GWN7625 Dual-Band WiFi Access Point

The Grandstream GWN7625 is the middle of the 802.11ac Wave-2 range: 200+ concurrent clients and coverage up to 165 metres. It holds the same device count as the GWN7630 for less money, with slightly less reach — which for most indoor sites is the right trade, because capacity runs out long before distance does.

There is no controller to buy. One access point takes the controller role for the site, or you run them free from GWN.Cloud. Multiple SSIDs, VLANs, a guest captive portal and seamless roaming are all standard.

Frequently asked questions

GWN7625 or GWN7630?

Both hold 200+ clients. The 7630 reaches further and has 4×4:4 MU-MIMO, which helps in a room where many devices transmit at once. If the space is broken up into normal-sized rooms, the 7625 saves money without costing capacity.

Do I need a separate controller?

No. One of the access points takes the controller role, or you manage them free from GWN.Cloud. No licence, no appliance — usually the largest hidden cost when comparing against other brands.

Will it really cover 165 metres?

Outdoors, in clear air, roughly. Indoors expect far less — plasterboard costs a little, brick and concrete cost a lot. Plan by rooms and walls, not by square metres.

How many access points do I need?

Almost always more than the coverage figure suggests, because capacity runs out before coverage does. A room with forty people needs an AP for the forty people, not for the twenty metres.

Can I mix models on one network?

Yes, and it is normal to. Put the bigger access points where the people are and cheaper ones in corridors and back offices.
