The Grandstream GWN7664 is the enterprise Wi-Fi 6 access point of the range: up to 750 concurrent clients and coverage up to 175 metres. That client figure is the reason to buy it — it is built for the rooms where every other access point gives up, and where the problem is never distance.

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is not primarily about top speed. It is about handling a great many devices politely rather than letting them shout over each other, which is exactly what a lecture theatre, a conference hall or a busy open-plan floor needs.

Frequently asked questions

Is 750 clients a real number?

It is the ceiling, not a recommendation. Treat it as headroom: an access point rated for 750 will be comfortable where one rated for 200 is already struggling. Nobody should plan to put 750 people on one radio.

Do my devices need to support Wi-Fi 6?

No — older devices connect normally. But the benefit comes from Wi-Fi 6 clients, so the busier and more modern the device population, the more you get back.

Do I need a separate controller?

No. One of the access points takes the controller role, or you manage them free from GWN.Cloud. No licence, no appliance.

GWN7664 or GWN7660?

Density. Both are Wi-Fi 6 and both reach about 175 metres; the 7664 holds more devices. In a normal office the 7660 is enough — buy the 7664 for the rooms that fill up.

What about the 6GHz band?

That is Wi-Fi 6E, on the GWN7665. It adds a third, uncongested band for devices that support it. If interference from neighbouring networks is the problem rather than raw device count, look there.

Does it need PoE?

It is designed for it — one cable to the ceiling. Check the switch's power budget when deploying several of the larger access points.
