The Grandstream GWN7670 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 access point for indoor use — 802.11be, up to 3.6 Gbps across 2.4GHz and 5GHz, with 4096-QAM and Multi-Link Operation to lift throughput and cut interference on a busy floor.

The detail that matters in practice is the wiring. It has two 2.5G ports, not Gigabit, so the access point is not throttled by its own cable the moment the radio gets busy. That is the mistake most Wi-Fi 6 and 7 upgrades make: a 3.6 Gbps radio behind a 1 Gbps link is a 1 Gbps access point.

It handles 256 concurrent clients and covers up to 175 metres. A controller is built in and will run up to 50 access points on its own, so a single site needs no separate hardware and no subscription; GWN.Cloud and GWN Manager are there for estates spread across several buildings.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need 2.5G switch ports to use it?

It will work on a Gigabit switch, but then the cable caps it at 1 Gbps and you have paid for a 3.6 Gbps radio you cannot use. If the point of the upgrade is throughput, budget for multi-gigabit ports at the same time — we will check your cabinet with you.

Does it need a separate controller or a subscription?

No. The controller is in the access point and manages up to 50 units on one site, with no licence. GWN.Cloud is optional and mainly useful when you are managing several sites from one place.

How many will I need?

Coverage runs to 175 metres, but the real answer depends on walls, ceiling height and how many devices sit in each area — density usually decides it before range does. Send us a floor plan and we will suggest positions.

Is Wi-Fi 7 worth it if our devices are Wi-Fi 6?

Partly. Wi-Fi 7 clients get the full benefit, but older clients still gain from better airtime handling on a crowded floor. If every device is older and the floor is quiet, a Wi-Fi 6 access point may be the more sensible spend — tell us the device mix and we will say so honestly.

Will cordless handsets roam properly on it?

Yes, provided the estate is configured for it — the same SSID and security settings on every access point. The handset matters less than that configuration; we can check it before you deploy.

Can it extend coverage without a cable?

Yes, it supports mesh. A cabled uplink is always better where one is possible, but mesh solves outbuildings and awkward corners.
