Grandstream DP720 DECT Cordless Handset
The Grandstream DP720 is an additional cordless handset for Grandstream's DECT platform, intended for staff who need to take calls away from a desk without carrying a mobile. It has no base station of its own — it registers to a DP750, DP752 or DP755 base, which does the SIP work and pushes lines out to every handset paired with it.
Because DECT operates on its own licensed band rather than sharing your Wi-Fi, coverage stays predictable even on busy networks. A single charge gives up to 20 hours of talking and roughly ten days on standby, and the 1.8-inch colour screen, HD speakerphone and 3.5mm headset socket make it practical for everyday use in workshops, stockrooms, care settings and small offices.
Ideal for
- Expanding an existing DP750, DP752 or DP755 DECT system with extra handsets
- Warehouses, stockrooms and workshops where Wi-Fi coverage is patchy
- Care homes and residential settings needing long standby between charges
- Small offices that want cordless extensions without a new phone system
- Retail units, garages and trade counters with staff away from a desk
- Sites replacing ageing analogue cordless phones with SIP
Key features
- Pairs with DP750, DP752 and DP755 — up to 20 lines and 20 SIP accounts on a DP755, or 10 lines and 10 accounts on a DP752 or DP750
- Long DECT range — up to 350 metres outdoors with a DP755 or DP752 base, and up to 50 metres indoors
- 20 hours talk time — around 250 hours on standby, so a handset survives a weekend on the cradle
- Full HD audio — G.722 wideband on both the earpiece and the full-duplex speakerphone
- 1.8-inch colour display — 128 x 160 TFT LCD for clear caller ID and menus
- Three-way conferencing — bring a third party into a call from the handset
- DECT authentication and encryption — calls and account credentials are protected over the air
- 3.5mm headset socket — use a wired headset for hands-free work
- Standard telephony features — transfer, forward, call waiting and do not disturb
- Remote provisioning — TR-069, XML config files and GDMS cloud management

Frequently asked questions
Can the DP720 work on its own?
No. It is a handset only and must be registered to a Grandstream DECT base station — a DP750, DP752 or DP755. If you do not already have one, you will need a base as well as the handset.
How many DP720 handsets can one base support?
That depends on the base. A DP755 supports up to 20 SIP accounts and 20 lines across its registered handsets; a DP752 or DP750 supports up to 10. Check your base station's handset registration limit before ordering.
What range should I realistically expect indoors?
Grandstream quotes up to 50 metres indoors and up to 350 metres outdoors with a DP752 or DP755. Real-world indoor range depends on wall construction — solid brick and steel shelving will reduce it. A DP760 repeater extends coverage where a single base is not enough.
Will the DP720 work with a DP730 on the same base?
Yes. Grandstream DECT bases can register a mix of handset models, so a DP720 can sit alongside DP722 or DP730 handsets on the same system.
How long does the battery last between charges?
Up to 20 hours of talk time and around 250 hours of standby from the two supplied 800mAh AAA cells, so most users only need to dock the handset overnight.
