Grandstream DP760 DECT Repeater

The Grandstream DP760 is the answer to the corner of the building the base station cannot reach. It is a wideband DECT repeater: it picks up the signal from a DP750 or DP752 and pushes it a further 300 metres outdoors, or around 50 metres indoors, relaying up to two concurrent HD calls while it does.

It is nearly always cheaper than a second base station, and simpler — a second base means a second set of handset registrations and a second network drop. A repeater just extends the coverage of the base you already have.

Up to five repeaters per base station. They fan out from the base in a star, so you can push coverage in several directions at once — down a corridor, out to a yard, up through a floor — rather than in a single line.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a network cable to it?

No. That is the point of a repeater — it only needs mains power where you put it. It talks to the base station over DECT, not over the network.

How many can I add?

Up to five per DP75x base station. They radiate outwards from the base rather than chaining one behind another, so plan them as spokes from a hub.

Repeater or a second base station?

A repeater if you are filling in coverage for the same handsets — cheaper, no extra network drop, and calls hand over as people walk. A second base station if you need more than five handsets, or more than ten SIP accounts, since those limits belong to the base.

Will call quality drop through the repeater?

It relays wideband HD audio, so speech quality holds up. The practical limit is capacity, not quality: two concurrent calls through any one repeater.

Is it hard to set up?

It auto-associates with the base station and detects its DECT region itself, so for most installs it is plug in, wait, done. Placement matters far more than configuration — put it where the signal is still good, not where the signal has already failed.

Where should I put it?

Roughly halfway between the base station and the dead area, somewhere the base's own signal is still strong. A repeater cannot amplify a signal it cannot hear.
