Grandstream DP750 DECT Base Station

The Grandstream DP750 is the base station of a DECT cordless system. On its own it makes no calls — it is the part that plugs into your network and talks to your phone system, and the DP7xx handsets register to it. Buying a DECT system means buying one of these plus the handsets you need.

One DP750 carries up to five handsets, ten SIP accounts and five concurrent calls, so a small office or a shop can run its whole cordless estate from a single unit. Each handset can hold its own number, or they can share a hunt group — that is configured on your phone system, not on the base.

DECT is worth choosing over Wi-Fi handsets when the site has no business-grade wireless, or when the wireless is busy with data. It is its own radio system on a licensed-free band reserved for cordless telephony, so it does not compete with laptops for airtime and it does not need the access points configured for roaming.

Frequently asked questions

Does the base station make calls on its own?

No. It is the radio and the network connection; the handsets are the phones. A working system is one base plus at least one handset, and they are sold separately — check your order includes both.

How many handsets can I add later?

Five per base station, and ten SIP accounts across them. If you need more handsets than that, you add a second base rather than a bigger one.

What range will I get?

Range is set by the handset, not the base: 350 metres outdoors with a DP722 or DP720, 400 metres with a DP730, DP725 or DP735, and around 50 metres indoors in all cases. Walls, floors and steel racking cut those figures considerably — tell us the building and we will be realistic with you.

Should I choose DECT or Wi-Fi handsets?

DECT if the site has no business-grade wireless, or the wireless is busy. Wi-Fi if you already run good access points and want one radio network to manage. Neither is better in the abstract — it depends on what is already installed.

Do I need a power supply at the base?

Not if the socket it plugs into is a PoE switch port — the DP750 takes power over the network cable. Otherwise it needs its own supply.

What if the coverage does not reach?

A DP760 repeater extends the base's coverage into an outbuilding or a far corner. It is usually cheaper than a second base station and there is nothing to configure on the handsets.
