Grandstream DP735 Ruggedised DECT IP Phone

The Grandstream DP735 is the ruggedised handset of the DP7xx DECT family. It is IP67 rated — sealed against dust and able to survive immersion — so it goes where a normal cordless phone does not: wash-down areas, workshops, forecourts, cold stores and building sites.

Range and telephony match the DP730: up to 400 metres outdoors, around 50 metres indoors, ten SIP accounts and two concurrent calls per handset, on a 2.4-inch colour display with three programmable soft keys. What you are paying the difference for is the shell.

It needs a base station. A DP735 on its own is not a working phone — it registers to a DP750 or DP752, and up to five handsets share one base. If you are starting a system from scratch, order both.

Frequently asked questions

What does IP67 actually mean here?

The first digit, 6, means dust-tight. The second, 7, means it withstands temporary immersion in water. In practice: it can be hosed down, dropped in a puddle or used in a dusty workshop. It is not rated for permanent submersion or for high-pressure jet washing.

Can I use it without a base station?

No. The handset registers to a DP750 or DP752. If this is a first cordless phone, make sure a base is on the order too.

How is it different from the DP730?

The shell, and nothing else that matters. Same 400 metre range, same 2.4-inch colour screen, same ten SIP accounts and two concurrent calls. The DP735 adds the IP67 sealing.

Is it worth the difference over a DP730 in a normal office?

Usually not. Buy the DP735 when the environment is the reason — water, dust, drops. In a carpeted office the DP730 does the same job for less.

How many handsets can share one base?

Five, with ten SIP accounts between them. A sixth handset means a second base station.

Can I mix it with other DP7xx handsets?

Yes. One base will happily carry a DP735 for the yard and DP722s for the office at the same time.
