Grandstream GDS3705 HD IP Audio Door System

The Grandstream GDS3705 is an audio door entry station with an RFID reader and a keypad, rated IP66 against the weather and IK10 against being hit. One PoE cable does power and network; it registers as a SIP endpoint and rings whichever phones you point it at.

No camera, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a compromise. Plenty of doors do not need video: a staff entrance where everyone has a card, a gate where the question is simply "let me in", a site where cameras raise privacy questions nobody wants to answer. Leaving the camera out removes the cost, the storage and the paperwork.

What it does spend money on is being heard. Dual microphones with advanced echo cancellation pick up speech from around 1.5 metres, and the HD loudspeaker carries about 3 metres — which on a windy street or beside a running engine is the difference between a working intercom and one people give up on.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a camera?

No — this is the audio-only model. If you need to see who is at the door, the GDS3710 is the video equivalent, and the GDS372x range is the current generation.

Can it release the door on its own?

Yes. The RFID reader and keypad are built in, so card and PIN entry work without a separate access controller behind the wall.

What do IP66 and IK10 mean here?

IP66 is dust-tight and protected against heavy rain and water jets. IK10 is the top impact rating in common use. Together they describe a panel that can live on an exposed street door.

How far away will it hear someone?

Around 1.5 metres for the microphones and about 3 metres for the speaker. That is normal doorway distance — it is not designed to hold a conversation across a car park.

Can staff answer from their phones?

Yes. As a SIP device it rings desk phones, DECT and Wi-Fi handsets and softphones on your platform, as well as the GSC control stations.

How is it powered?

Integrated PoE over the same cable that carries the network, which is what keeps the installation to a single run.
