Frequently asked questions

What does IP67 actually mean here?

Dust-tight, and able to withstand temporary immersion in water. In practice that covers rain, a wash-down and being dropped in a puddle — the three things that usually kill a handset on a working site. It is a meaningfully higher rating than splash resistance.

Will one charge really cover a shift?

Up to 10 hours of talking and 10 days on standby from the 3000mAh pack. Very few shifts are 10 hours of continuous conversation, so in practice this is the handset that does not need a mid-shift swap.

Does it need a DECT base station?

No. It is a Wi-Fi handset — it joins your wireless network and registers to your SIP platform. What it does need is proper access point coverage; send us a site plan and we will check it before you order.

How is it different from the WP825?

Both are ruggedised. The WP836 goes further: Wi-Fi 6 rather than earlier standards, a 3000mAh battery instead of 2000mAh, and IP67 protection. If the handsets are going outdoors or into a wash-down area, the difference is worth paying for.

Can it be used as a lone-worker device?

How does it charge in the field?

In its charging cradle, or from any USB-C charger — useful for vehicles and temporary sites where a cradle is not practical.
