TP-Link Omada SG3428XPP M2 L2+ PoE Switch

The SG3428XPP-M2 is the multi-gigabit PoE workhorse of the Omada L2+ range: 24 × 2.5G access ports, every one of them PoE-enabled, backed by four 10G SFP+ slots for uplinks and aggregation. Eight of the ports deliver PoE++ at up to 60 W each and the other sixteen deliver PoE+ at up to 30 W, all drawing from a 500 W total budget.

That combination is built for modern wireless: 2.5G links and generous per-port power are exactly what high-capacity Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 access points such as the EAP670 and EAP773 want, so the APs are neither speed- nor power-starved. Adopt it into an Omada controller — hardware such as the OC300 — and switch, APs and gateway are managed from one cloud dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Omada controller to use it?

No. It runs standalone with full web, CLI, SNMP and RMON management. Adding an Omada controller is optional and brings the switch, access points and gateway into a single cloud-managed dashboard.

How much PoE power can each port deliver?

Ports 1–8 support PoE++ at up to 60 W per port; ports 9–24 support PoE+ at up to 30 W per port. The whole switch shares a 500 W budget, so add up your powered devices before you fill every port.

Why choose 2.5G access ports?

Current Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 access points can push more traffic than a gigabit port carries. 2.5G ports over existing Cat5e/Cat6 cabling remove that bottleneck without recabling.

Is it rack-mountable?

Yes — it is a rack-format managed switch designed for cabinet installation.
