TP-Link Omada SG6428X L3 Non PoE Switch

The Omada SG6428X is a full Layer 3 switch for the core or distribution layer of a campus network: 24 Gigabit RJ45 ports, four 10 Gbps SFP+ slots and 128 Gbps of switching capacity per unit, with physical stacking to scale performance and build in redundancy.

It brings proper routing to the Omada ecosystem — RIP, OSPF, ECMP, VRRP, PIM-DM and DHCP server/relay — with two internal fixed power supplies for high availability. Pair it with PoE edge switches such as the SG3452P and manage everything centrally through the Omada SDN controller such as the OC300.

Where does an L3 switch fit in my network?

At the core or distribution layer. It routes between VLANs and subnets at wire speed with OSPF, RIP and ECMP, leaving your firewall or gateway to handle the internet edge while access switches feed it over 10G uplinks.

What does physical stacking give me?

Multiple units behave as one logical switch — one management point, cross-unit link aggregation, and resilience if a member fails.

Does it provide PoE?

No — this is the non-PoE model. For 24 PoE+ ports and up to 720 W of budget on the same platform, choose the SG6428XHP.

Do I need an Omada controller?

No — standalone web, CLI, SNMP and RMON management is built in. The Omada SDN controller is optional for centralised cloud management.
